As the laptop works, I don't think is a case of having to edit the connection file from UDP to TCP which seems like a common response. Now, I have a laptop with Kali as the main OS and I've downloaded the connection pack, connected to HTB and the above steps all work fine, but obviously I don't want to use a main system on my network to do this. The first is "Your port specifications are illegal" and then if I just try a nmap without the ports I get "Host seems down", but when I nmap with -Pn it comes back saying host is up. I follow the instructions on the screen and get 2 errors: I log in toe the HTB website, go to 'Starting Point' under Labs and get to the Enumeration section. Guest editions etc all installed, everything is the latest versions. I was able to use monitor mode with this. your Kali Linux Virtual Box like this I was able to use monitor mode with this adapter and use it to capture a WPA2 handshake.
